Description

Join us in partnership with Milwaukee’s Riverkeeper for an afternoon boat ride along Milwaukee’s historic and picturesque waterways, learning about the history of Milwaukee’s waterfronts and efforts to protect them for our scenic enjoyment. We'll learn about the long history of industrial, community, and recreational uses, and learn about ongoing efforts to protect the waterfront for public use and enjoyment. We will be joined by Historian John Gurda, Michael Cain, co-chair of WGF’s Public Trust and Wetlands work group, Cheryl Nenn, Riverkeeper with Milwaukee’s Riverkeeper, and Rhonda Nordstrom, Water City Program Coordinator with Milwaukee Water Commons.

During and after the boat tour, these experts will discuss the social justice and equity issues related to policy governing access and development of Milwaukee’s waterfronts, including the Public Trust Doctrine, as well as the threats to surrounding water quality and scenic enjoyment. We hope you will join us for an evening on the water!
